FISHER SCIENTIFIC MODEL MARATHON 21K R REFRIGERATED CENTRIFUGE. This centrifuge does what it is supposed to do. It spins and cools down the chamber promptly. However, it does have some issues. Here are three that we identified:
1. The post that activates the safety switch (that does not allow the centrifuge’s door to be opened while spinning), is broken.
2. The centrifuge includes a four bucket rotor; but it has no buckets
3. The temperature display does not reflect the actual temperature of the centrifuge’s chamber.
The rotor that is included in this offer is rated for 5000 rpm. We were able to get the centrifuge up to 5400 rpm using this rotor.
Therefore, we offer this centrifuge as described, in “as is” condition, with no warranty implied or stated and no return accepted.
It cools down very rapidly. You should be able to see the frost in the chamber beneath the spinning rotor in the images of this offer.
In order to test the centrifuge, we bypassed the safety switch. We will remove the bypass before we ship it out to the buyer.
